I'm always keen to read the new findings surrounding endometriosis after years of experiencing the symptoms of this disease myself.
This recent research discusses how endometriosis is now understood by modern science to be a whole-body disease, not just a disorder of the uterus.

These recent papers discuss how endometriosis is a disease that can involve your immune system, your inflammatory pathways, your metabolism, your nervous system, your gut microbiome and possibly your heart and blood vessels.
This helps to explain why some women with endometriosis experience fatigue, brain fog, digestive problems, pain throughout your body, migraines and mood changes.
Gentics- the articles talk about how your genes may have an impact on endometriosis- on how your immune system works, how your cells react and how well your tissue repairs.
How your immune system responds is discussed, looking at how endometriosis may partly be a disorder of your immune system.
The gut microbiome is another area of discussion, exploring how changes to the microbiome can impact levels of pain with endometriosis, digestive symptoms in inflammation in the body.
It's exciting to see these discussions and research which will be used to support women. I'm also pleased to read how this supports the naturopathic approach to helping women with endometriosis, looking at your immune system, genetics, nervous system and gut health.
I saw a huge improvement in my own symptoms when I made changes to what I ate, how I exerercised and by giving some focus to calming my immune and nervous system.
